There aren’t tons of games that have to be ranked so low on my scaling system, but there needs to be a lower “score” for the ones I never much cared for and typically don’t really look forward to replaying. The Shattered Medallion (#30) would be around a 3 for me (no excuses for that one, though).

The original Secrets Can Kill (#1) would go here towards the ranking of 1 or 2.not that it’s the game’s fault for being the first in a new series and for having been made almost 20 years ago. I’m just not a huge fan of these games compared to most of the titles in the series. But I say there is a distinction and I’m trying to be as just and (relatively) impartial as I can be in my clearly super-important pursuit of determining the best of the best Nancy Drew mystery adventure games. I concede that my distinction between “just choosing the one I like” and “determining which one is ‘better’ using standards I made up” might be and probably is pretty small. Granted, this judgement is based on my own criteria – which are subjective – and then the application of those criteria to form opinions – which are also subjective.

The reason that can happen is because with these bracket pairings, I’m not just trying to tell you which of the two games I like more I’m trying to determine which of the two is the superior Nancy Drew game. It’s.it’s part of my process, maybe?) Anyway, the reason I’m bringing this up is that I have found that in more than one head-to-head bracket pairing, the game I thought I liked less won over the game I liked more. (I don’t know – I have a weird discrepancy between my ND content and what’s actually visible on the blog. But secondly, well – here’s a secret: I’ve already completed 4 bracket pairings, even though only one has been posted on the blog at this point in time.

So, if I already have them all ranked and rated, why bother comparing them bracket-style for this blog? First of all, I just want to, so there’s that. And it’s no different when you’re talking about 30+ ND games instead of just a few. As gamers of any series, we all do if you’ve played three ND games, you’re going to know which of the three you liked best, worst, and in-between. Okay, I get that this entire blog is pretty much dedicated to “Rating and Ranking Nancy Drew Games” – remember that other post when I was talking about my plan to determine My Top-Rated Nancy Drew Game through a bracket system? So yeah, maybe it doesn’t seem to make the most sense that I would then just immediately go ahead and rank all the games anyway.īut, as I also implied in that post, I already had ratings for all the games.
